Meet The Owner

Ann Dea Whippen has over 20 years of professional experience, working in the areas of sales, marketing, customer service, and management.  She is the owner of Hike Monadnock, a growing online retail company based in Jaffrey, NH.  Ann Dea earned a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the University of Baltimore in 1996, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration, Management from Towson University in 1993.  She and her husband Joe live in Jaffrey with their dog, Abigail.  She spends her free time running, hiking, reading, boating, and traveling.​

How It Began 

It all started with an alarming article in our local newspaper.
 

It was January 6, 2012 to be exact — announcing that federal grant money used to maintain and improve southern New Hampshire’s recreational trails had been cut for the year, and possibly for good. Like many in the Monadnock region, we were concerned that, over time, locals and visitors alike wouldn’t be able to fully access and enjoy our state’s natural beauty.
 

We decided to do something about it. Hike Monadnock is the result.
 

Within six months of this unsettling news, our company was founded. From the beginning, we had a clear purpose — to not only run a good business, but also a business that does good. Specifically, a portion of every purchase from Hike Monadnock generates funding that we share with Monadnock State Park, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, and other conservancy efforts endeavoring to permanently protect property and maintain trails in the Monadnock region. It’s that simple — and hopefully that impactful.
